Who We Really Are

Forging Tomorrow's Structures with Yesterday's Wisdom

Industrial architecture plans

Our Story (The Real One)

Look, we're not gonna feed you some fairy tale about three visionaries meeting at an architecture conference. Truth is, we started in a cramped office above a printing shop back in 2008 with nothing but student loans, sketches, and way too much coffee. The name? Yeah, it's a bit much - but each part means something to us.

We got our break when the city needed someone crazy enough to restore the old Venforge Steel Mill into mixed-use space. Everyone said it couldn't be done sustainably. We proved 'em wrong. That project taught us something - old industrial bones have stories, and sometimes the greenest building is the one that's already standing.

Elena Mystral

Principal Architect & Heritage Specialist

Started sketching old factories when she was 12. Spent five years in Europe studying heritage conservation before dragging those techniques back to Toronto's industrial belt. Can spot original ironwork from a mile away.

Marcus Venforge

Structural Engineer & Sustainability Director

Third-generation steelworker who decided to design instead of build. Obsessed with making old structures work harder and greener. If it involves load-bearing calculations and carbon footprints, he's your guy.

Sarah Quint

Urban Planner & Project Director

Used to work for the city pushing papers until she realized she could actually change neighborhoods instead of just approving them. Keeps us honest about community impact and budget realities.

How We Got Here

2008 - The Beginning

Started with three desks, one printer, and a dream. First project was renovating a corner store. We were terrified but didn't show it.

2011 - The Venforge Mill Project

Got our first major heritage restoration gig. Turned a condemned steel mill into 200,000 sq ft of LEED Gold certified space. This one put us on the map - and nearly broke us financially.

2015 - Expanding the Team

Moved to Adelaide Street. Hired 12 people who actually knew what they were doing. Started turning down projects that didn't align with our sustainability goals - scary but necessary.

2019 - Heritage Recognition

Won the Canadian Heritage Preservation Award for our work on the Distillery District expansion. Finally felt like we knew what we were doing (most days anyway).

2022 - Zero Carbon Commitment

Made the pledge - all our designs from here on target net-zero carbon. Yeah, it's ambitious. Yeah, it's harder than it sounds. But someone's gotta do it.

2025 - Today

Now we're a team of 28 architects, engineers, and planners. Still in the same office (just took over more floors). Still obsessed with making old buildings work for the future.

Team collaboration

What Drives Us

We're not trying to be the biggest firm in Toronto - there's plenty of those already. What gets us out of bed is finding ways to make century-old industrial buildings relevant again while actually reducing their environmental impact.

Every brick that doesn't get demolished is carbon we're not pumping into the atmosphere. Every heritage facade we preserve is a piece of Toronto's story we're keeping alive. And yeah, we make sure these places can handle modern heating, cooling, and tech without looking like someone just slapped solar panels on a Victorian mansion.

Want to Work With Us?

We're always looking for challenging projects - the kind that make other firms nervous. Heritage restoration, adaptive reuse, sustainable industrial design... if it's complex and meaningful, we want to hear about it.
